The J2 Group will help assess your daily operational work routines across all phases of perioperative care to either validate or help you design a process that results in organizational effectiveness and to make sure that your clinical system is providing the information support you require. Current State DocumentationStep 1 in evaluating the effectiveness of critical clinical and operational processes is to document current practice. The time of “silo” practice is fading and integrated practices are taking their place fueled by integrated information systems. Cross disciplinary teams/staff are not always equally familiar with the activities occurring across departmental lines. Documentation of current processes and practices is a valuable step in understanding where you are as an organization and to identify areas for improvement. Future State DocumentationOnce you have documented your current practice, you are better positioned to identify areas for streamlining or improvement and to integrate any recommendations for change with new regulatory requirements and capabilities of your information system. Documentation of desired future practices can and should be the basis for the corresponding design and build of your clinical information system, staff training, and creation of specific policies and standards. Development of Information Standards and PoliciesThe J2 Group, in conjunction with your staff, can develop new information standards and policies as an outgrowth of future state practice decisions. We believe that policy and procedure development specifically related to process change decisions is a necessary final step in the establishment of system standards. They are also an invaluable tool for your staff as they learn to work with a system and incorporate new or revised work routines for which they will be held accountable. As it relates to the use of information technology, written documentation also provides the "history" of system content design and standards decisions useful for on-going maintenance and successive design adaptations.
